Meet Jeanette Gara-Betzold!

Jeanette Gara-Betzold, E-RYT 200 established JGB Yoga (Joy. Gratitude. Balance.) in October 2015. Yoga is a wellness system that has impacted Jeanette’s life in a positive way since she started practicing with Shanti Yoga Studio in McCall in 2003.

After time in the mountains as a graduate student and outdoor science school instructor, Jeanette moved to the LC Valley in 2005 and connected with yoga at Lewis-Clark State College with Meredith Robbins. As an experiential educator, Jeanette partnered with Meredith in 2008 to create a new course at LCSC – Yoga Retreat Weekend- and brought yoga, community building, personal leadership development, and wellness studies to over a decade of students at LCSC.

This led Jeanette to attend yoga teacher training workshops (since 2011). She completed the 200HR Shanti Yoga Teacher Training in 2014, and the 90HR Prenatal Teacher Training in 2016. Jeanette continually seeks out professional development and has enjoyed continued studies with Shanti Yoga, Garden Street Yoga, and regional conferences including the Northwest Yoga Conference, AcroYoga Portland, and the Northwest Yoga Feast.

With requests to teach off-campus, she established JGB Yoga, LLC in 2015. Jeanette and the instructors she partners with offer a welcoming, inclusive teaching style and a wide range of therapeutic yoga and meditation experiences that make yoga more accessible in our community. Her teaching experiences include Lewiston Community Center and Asotin County Aquatic Center adult classes, Children’s House Montessori School kids yoga, Lewis-Clark State College Kinesiology classes and retreats, corporate yoga for Clearwater Paper, Cat Yoga, Paddleboard Yoga, and several outdoor venues and retreat locations from Cottonwood, Idaho to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!

In 2019, Jeanette expanded her role in health and wellness by returning to school to become a Physical Therapist Assistant. She graduated in 2021, started working part-time for Advanced Home Care as at PTA, and continues to find ways to blending physical therapy and yoga to enhance our community.

Jeanette’s teaching is influenced by Desikichar’sThe Heart of Yoga and Baxter Bell and Yoga for Healthy Aging instructors, Judith Hansen Laster, Mark Stephens, Donna Farhi, and Katy Bowman to name a few! Her teaching is equally guided by the wisdom and journeys of her students and the explorations of her own life and raising two sons, Cedar and Donald.

Jeanette is thankful for the beautiful, adventurous, nature-loving, service-minded, positive community that evolved from working to bring more JOY, GRATITUDE, and BALANCE into her life and will continue to find ways to let this light shine!
